I dont know how to pose for pictures 🥴
Namaste 🙏 I’m Varun!
I’m a UX Designer/Researcher based in NRW, Germany. I’m currently pursuing masters’ in Usability Engineering at Hochschule Rhein-Waal (HSRW). Previously, I studied Architecture & Design in India. I have always enjoyed connecting with people, while using my creative skills to solve problems and bring ideas to life.
I stumbled upon UX design while browsing the internet, and after learning about it, my interest in the field had piqued. That’s what led to come to Germany and pursue this program. I liked that UX design aims to not only solve business goals, but is empathetic towards users as well.
Learning new skills and meeting new people always interested me. My past experience ranges from serving at restaurants, providing customer service, drafting architecture drawings, content writing and creating websites as a freelancer. These all allowed me to diversify my outlook, gain more empathy, and utilize my attention to detail.
What am I like outside work? I’m glad you asked.
I like cooking as much as I like eating 😋
The pandemic turned me into an avid cooking enthusiast. As someone who barely cooked anything apart from eggs before COVID-19, I'd like to think I've come a long way by exploring various cuisines and dishes. My favourite and most frequented cuisines are Indian, Malay and Chinese.
Politics & urban design 🌎
Apart from design, I enjoy reading and learning about politics, history, geography and urban design of cities. Currently, I am also the Head of Political Eduction at General Student Committee (AStA) at HSRW. In the past, I have written my undergraduate thesis in realm of protests spaces and their role on urban design. I am always open to talk and discuss people from different political spectrum and experiences.
